The Guardian reports that women have been responsible for huge increase in cycling and walking in 2020. Strava which tracked more than 1.1 billion activities uploaded by 72 million users over the past year , found the number of uploaded runs and cycle rides nearly doubled compared with the same period in 2019 while the number of walks tripled. Covid-19 and the various lockdowns have increased people’s appetite for regular exercse. Strava report that much of this growth has been down to women. Women have found that during the lockdowns that it has been much safer to exercise outside and also the closure of gyms has meant much of this exercise has had to be taken outside.
